Social Media Strategy

Mental Health Week 2017

As part of my internship with MHCC ACT, I designed and implimented a social media strategy to promote Mental Health Week, increase their online presence and foster relationships with stakeholders.

The posts aimed to engage the participating organisations, our target audience, and raise awareness of the launch event and expo.

We used the hashtags #ACTStrongerTogether and #MentalHealthWeek in all of our posts and encouraged participants to ‘join the conversation’ by using these in their own posts.

Top performing Facebook posts

The resulting increase in the event page’s views and engagement on Facebook was marked.

Below you can see the spike in views of MHCC ACT’s Facebook from mid-September 2017 to mid-October 2017.

Facebook views

September 2016 - October 2017

We reached significantly more people than the previous year in the same period.

In 2016 we reached 6 views in a day, this year in the same period we reached 41, almost 7 times more. Over this period, we also gained 307 new page likes.

On Twitter, MHCC’s tweets reached over 334 people per day between mid-September to mid-October.

This number is similar to what was seen last year.

The effectiveness of the MHCC Twitter could be attributed to the year-round use of the account, making posts more likely to be picked up by the site’s algorithms and shown higher in follower’s feeds
